MEET THE NEW EXPERT: Dave Ballard
This week we welcomed a new face to the Diva team – Senior Account Manager Dave Ballard. Bringing with him over 13 years’ telecoms experience, Dave’s invaluable knowledge is extensive, covering Inbound Numbers and Call Management, Mobile, Traditional Lines and Calls as well as Broadband and Connectivity.
Dave will be working closely with our dealers, resellers and customers from both on home soil and internationally.
To get to know him a bit better we did a quick Q&A and got some great and unexpected answers:
Tell us something we didn’t know about you?
Last year I hosted a three day ‘The Sons of the Desert’ Laurel and Hardy Convention in Bradford, which over 120 fans attended. As part of the programme I put together, we visited iconic Laurel and Hardy locations around the area and of course we all donned fezzes!
How did you get in to telecoms?
By accident! After working for Royal Mail, I took a round the world trip hoping to find that epiphany moment that everyone talks about. But instead it was a friend who worked in telecoms recruitment who pointed me towards this sector and the rest is history!
Where is your favourite place in the world?
It depends how I feel, but it probably be the outback in Australia. I travelled around the world back in 2004 and the vastness of that area stood out for me.
What’s your personal philosophy?
Enjoy life, challenge yourself and never lose your sense of humour!
What’s your favourite film?
It’s got to be Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid! I’ve always been into western films since I was really young and even specialised in the Western period when I did a BA in History at Leeds University.
If you could do another job for a day what would it be?
I would have to be an astronaut - just for the views!
If you could learn a new skill what would it be?
I’d like to learn a new language. Which one? I guess Spanish appeals as it’s spoken in such a broad range of countries.
