Diva gets shortlisted for NextGen’s 2017 Digital Challenge Awards
That’s right, Diva Telecom has officially been shortlisted as a finalist in the Connected Britain Award category – and we couldn’t be more excited! The announcement was made last week by NextGen at the Connected Britain 2017 Conference.
How did Gigabit City Leeds transform Eltofts?
We were shortlisted for the award after receiving overwhelming support for our Eltofts village project back in 2016 when several small businesses and farms based in a rural area of North Leeds had been battling with staggeringly slow 2 Mbps internet connectivity.
After hearing about our partnership with CityFibre and about the transformative nature of Gigabit Cities across the country, Andy Wright from the Eltofts business community approached us about securing their own connection.
Residents dug trenches and laid fibre from their home office to meet the Gigabit City Leeds network, after only four months their ultrafast 1 Gbps speed connection went live. As a result, businesses in Eltofts now have one of the fastest rural business broadband connections in the country – you can read the full story here.
NextGen Events manage events, conferences and study tours to highlight and bring about change in wider global sustainable development issues.
Now in its 7th year, the NextGen Digital Challenge Awards Programme identifies and honours achievements, key players and the best in next generation digital innovation from across the British Isles.
What is happening next
It’s safe to say that we are all incredibly humbled to be recognised for our efforts and are so grateful for the opportunity to help businesses across Yorkshire get better connected. Erica Lewis, Diva Telecom’s Managing Director adds:
“I would just like to wish all of our fellow finalists the best of luck. We are incredibly happy to be nominated for the Connected Britain Award and very much look forward to the result. However, no matter what the outcome we will remain extremely proud of the services we deliver to businesses.”
The next stage involves preparing a submission, which will be assessed by an independent panel of judges – with the results being announced at an Awards Ceremony on Monday 23rd of October.
In meantime, if you would like to contact a member of our team to discuss your business broadband connectivity options just give us a call on 0330 333 0330.
