Digital Week: The 2017 Launch Party
Now, Diva Telecom has had the privilege of attending some incredible launch events in its 10 years of business but last night was one of the best yet…
Welcome to Leeds Digital Week
Our team of telecommunications experts came together to support the 2017 opening of Leeds’s most sought-after open platform festival, that celebrates all forms of digital culture and invites anyone or any company to put on an event in keeping with the vibrant, ever-evolving and technological nature of the digital landscape and the role it plays in our future.
In 2016 Leeds Digital Festival launched for the first time with over 6,000 people attending 56 events across 28 venues, featuring over 175 speakers. That’s a lot of knowledge. And a lot of celebrating!
However, round two, which runs from 22nd April until 29th April, is set to outdo its former self with 115 events scheduled and 10,000 attendees registered. The ante has been upped – and judging by last night’s launch, we can already see this year’s event surpassing all expectations. Yet another reason for Leeds to get excited!
A Peek behind the Curtain
Last night was a great night. It was a relaxed affair with Marc Lough from our partner, CityFibre setting things in motion followed by Beverley Bryant from NHS Digital, Councillor James Lewis and Festival director Stuart Clarke formerly opening Leeds Digital Festival.
Prior to this our Gigabit City Leeds expert, Blaine Craig, attended a round table event that discussed the importance of digital connectivity to Leeds together with 17 peers from the city including Amanda Lennon from LEP and Simon Brereton from Leeds City Council.
This was an ideal appetite-wetter. The lively subject matter seemed to create a real buzz among those who participated, with the topic being discussed on and off throughout the evening at the launch event that followed.
Let’s Get Leeds Talking
Following on from the success of last night’s launch, perhaps you have some thoughts on the above subject too? If you do, we’d love to hear them!
Do you agree that businesses having affordable access to ultrafast and future-proof internet speeds would improve the Leeds economy? To what extent? You can send over your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the meantime, we are looking forward to attending some great events Leeds Digital Festival has to offer which are listed on their website here.
Events include Creating Websites For Your Audience on 25th April, (a collaborative workshop where website ideas / solutions are applied to answer a creative brief) and The Digital Garage on the 26thApril, which helps entrepreneurs get more from their online presence.
We will also be attending other events coming up soon – maybe you will be at Buy Yorkshire Conference on 16th and 17th May? If so, see you there!
